Kitchen Refresh

We moved into our home 1 year ago and between long hours of work & study I have been trying to find ways to make our house feel more like home. I absolutely loved our home as it was, I thought it was beautiful, but I wanted to add more to it so it felt more like my home. One of the houses we viewed before finding ours had these amazing light blue cabinets throughout the kitchen and I was in love. The moment I saw that kitchen I wanted that house. Unfortunately, the seller went with another offer and I was devastated to say the least. My husband told me that when we found our home if I wanted to paint the cabinets I could. So when we closed on our house I started looking for the perfect blue paint that would work in the lighting of our kitchen.

Shortly after we moved in life got crazy, work picked up and I was studying for a very important licensing exam so my time spent on the kitchen was put on hold. After everything calmed down I started the process of picking the perfect paint and accumulating pieces for the kitchen that I thought gave the space life and light.

The paint process was rough. There are SO many options, not to mention finishes. I ultimately chose “French Moire” by Sherwin-Williams after a long process of painting swatches and narrowing down the color. After painting the island I set to work on the finishing touches.

I chose these adorable barstools from target and thought they were perfect! I also changed the original light fixtures for these natural wicker ones that I am in love with. Finally, I swapped the black hardware for gold and my kitchen was complete.

I am in love with the way it looks. It brings me so much joy when I see the bright color of the island. While it took me a long time to get this project done between life and work I am thrilled with out it turned out and I would do this all again in a heartbeat.
